Hungarians living in the tsunami-struck area in Thailand are also coping with the aftermath.
The owners are trying to get their life back together and are angry at the Thai officials, and they are complaining about the slow recovering of decomposing human bodies. According to some Hungarian tourist guides, the Hungarian consulate in Bangkok was too slow, too. Six days had past before they sent an official to the emergency centre in Phuket. It was an English teacher and the tourist guides, who went to the hospitals and looked through the listings of the dead and missing, searching for Hungarian names.
Meanwhile, an organization, called the Hungarian Baptist Aid has created a bank account for the orphans of the tsunami. Hungarians can symbolically adopt a child for a year for 16 dollars per month.The money will be sent to the Hungarian Orphanage in Sri Lanka, which was set up this week by Hungarian aid services in the southern city of Galle.
